The Morrison government has pulled the pin on more than $50 million in train station car parking projects it had promised in largely Liberal marginal seats before the last federal election after underestimating the cost of some of the upgrades.
Five commuter car parks in Melbourne’s south-east and a planned road extension that were funded under the $4 billion Urban Congestion Fund ahead of the 2019 election will no longer go ahead, amid a $90 million budget blowout and allegations that political “tribalism” has caused delays. ....
